An Epic Adventure

The Wedding of Andy and Dan, September 2022

When Andy and Dan asked me to photograph their Wookey Hole Wedding, I knew it wouldn’t be your average celebration. I’d met them through my work with Fantom Events in London. Their love of sci-fi, theatre, and joyful chaos meant this was going to be something special.

Friday Night Bingo with Izzy Harjett

The weekend kicked off with a riotous round of Friday Night Bingo hosted by Andy’s fabulous drag alter-ego, Izzy Harjett – a local legend in Norwich. For many guests, this was their first time meeting Izzy, and I was there to capture every giggle, gasp, and glittery moment.

A Wedding in the Witch’s Kitchen

The ceremony took place in the legendary Witch’s Kitchen, deep within the caves of Wookey Hole. This iconic location – famous for its appearance in Doctor Who: Revenge of the Cybermen (1975) and The End of Time – has long been Andy’s dream wedding venue. Rumours of ghost sightings and cursed productions only added to the atmosphere, but despite two pandemic-related postponements, their day unfolded without a hitch.

Sci-Fi Guests and Spooky Surprises

True to their fandom roots, Andy and Dan invited some screen-worthy guests. James Burgess, a Fantom Events regular, brought 1970s sci-fi flair to the proceedings, and a screen-featured Stormtrooper kept guests in line with Imperial precision.

Penny Arcades and Paper-Making

Before the meal, guests explored Wookey Hole’s quirky attractions – from vintage penny arcades to live paper-making demonstrations. It was a wedding full of wonder, laughter, and love, unlike anything I’ve captured before.
