Dani and Stu are absolute legends. Their Derby Registry Office wedding was laid-back, joy-filled, and gloriously geeky – my kind of people. From a celery lapel (hello, Fifth Doctor!) to the tree of Gondor, every detail was packed with personality.
They met online during lockdown, bonded over banana bread and Zoom calls, and decided to get married over dinner – no fuss, just love. The ceremony was emotional and full of laughter, with Dani’s mum beaming despite the language barrier. You didn’t need words to feel the love in that room.
We found a hidden courtyard for group shots, then wandered Derby town centre and riverside for portraits – all giggles and genuine connection. Later, I joined them at the Museum of Making for their drinks reception. Industrial vibes, jazz hands on the staircase, and a cheeky trip to the clock tower for moody, romantic portraits.
Bonus highlight: Stu’s a huge Doctor Who fan, so I surprised him with cast autographs in their wedding card. His reaction? Time Lord-level joy. And yes, Dani’s a wedding photographer too – no pressure! But he trusted me completely, and it felt more like hanging out with friends than working. That’s the dream.
